Welcoming Balderton’s Summer Associates: 2016

It gives me great pleasure to welcome this year's cohort of summer associates to Balderton Capital.

The idea of our summer placement is to introduce individuals with varied skill-sets to the world of venture capital. While working here, they will be meeting new companies, advising our portfolio companies in specific areas, and deep-diving into verticals to help broaden our understanding of emerging sectors in technology.

Daria will focus on the field of enterprise software, Tom is looking at the future of work, and Animish is leading on drones/UAVs.

Daria is joining from London Business School, where is is currently pursuing an MBA degree. Prior to starting the MBA, Daria was part of the European landing team at Dropbox. She helped build the sales team in Dublin, working with SMB clients and channel partners, and saw the team grow from ten to 150 people. Daria started her career in Fixed Income at HSBC and hold a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Cass Business School. She is fluent in German and Russian.

Tom is joining on a secondment from Crowdcube. Tom was brought in to Crowdcube 2 years ago to source London based companies for the platform. Since then he’s worked with many of the super-seed and venture stage transactions that have raised through the platform. Prior to Crowdcube, Tom spent 6 months at a thoroughly unsuccessful West Coast US media start up, followed by 2 years working at Cavendish, a boutique, mid-market M&A advisory specialising in sell-side transactions.

Animish is joining us until August, when he will be going to the Wharton School to begin an MBA. Before joining us he was a product manager with a fintech startup in London. He previously worked as a strategy consultant for nearly 3 years, including a secondment to Expedia's product team, and prior to that worked with a solar energy social enterprise in India. He studied electrical engineering at Cambridge and MIT.
