Mark Evans

Mark has spent over 10 years as a General Partner at Balderton Capital.

Before entering the venture capital business, he spent two years in Silicon Valley as an EIR at Benchmark Capital and then running a software business, before returning to the UK to join Benchmark Europe in 2002, which became Balderton Capital in 2007.

Prior to his technology and venture career, Mark was at Goldman Sachs, where he worked in Europe, Asia and the US, leading the firm’s businesses in Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Equity Research and as Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asia. He was a member of the firm's Management Committee from 1994 through its IPO in 1999.

Current Investments: 3D Hubs, Big Fish Games, Ezoic, Gemvara, Lyst, Medicanimal, Memrise, Tabula, The Hut Group, YOOX (IPO: Yoox.Milan) and Worldstores.

Previous Investments: 7Digital (acquired by HMV), Almonde (acquired by Misys), Azuro (acquired by Cadence: CDNS), Figleaves (acquired by N Brown: LON:BWNG), GCL-Poly (IPO: 3800:HK), Icera (acquired by Nvidia: NVDA), Matrix Semiconductor (acquired by Sandisk: SNDK), MySQL (acquired by Sun Microsystems), Natural Motion (acquired by Zynga: ZNGA), Scansafe (acquired by Cisco: CSCO), Yingli (IPO: YGE).

Education: MLitt in Economics from the University of Oxford, 1985. BA Honours in Economics from Queens University in Canada, 1981.
