Steve Melton

Prior to becoming Chief Executive, Steve served as Circle’s Head of Mobilisation and Head of Operations. He first joined the company in February 2008 and has played a significant role in many of Circle’s key achievements, including leading the successful opening of the Bath and Reading hospitals in March 2010 and August 2012, and the initiation and successful re-bid on the Nottingham Treatment Centre contract. He also led the final phases of bidding, negotiation, and mobilisation of the Hinchingbrooke contract.

 
Prior to joining Circle, Steve gained over 22 years’ experience of leading transformational change and business excellence programmes. Previous roles include Supply Chain Director and Head of Operational Excellence at Argos, and Supply Chain Director at Scottish Courage Ltd., where he managed over 3,000 staff and a £165 million cost base. Steve was also a key leader in the ASDA turnaround team during the late 90s. He began his career on Unilever's Management Trainee Program, and held a number of roles internationally at Unilever. 
 
Steve holds an MA (First Class) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge. He is a member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
