Bebo.com said this week that it is now the most-visited social networking site in the U.K., as of July. Bebo pushed the social networking behemoth Myspace.com to the second position, according to data released by comScore, a company that measure online traffic.
During July, Bebo attracted 10.6 million unique visitors - a 63 percent increase in traffic over figures at the start of 2007. For July, MySpace had 10.1 million (increase of 25 percent since beginning of the year).
Facebook.com (7.6 million visitors), H15.com (1.9 million) and Faceparty.com (1.7 million) followed in third, fourth and fifth spots respectively, comScore said. This data included visits from users who accessed the site at home or at work, but not in Internet cafes or from mobile devices.
Bebo.com now holds 34 percent of the social networking Web site market in the U.K.; MySpace.com is at 32 percent and Facebook.com at 24 percent. Of the three, for 2007 so far Facebook.com experienced the fastest growth, increasing its traffic 366 percent since the start of 2007.
"Social networking sites like Facebook and Bebo have shown phenomenal growth over the past six months -- and should continue to do so as the 'network effect' gives them momentum," said Bob Ivins, executive vice president of international markets at comScore, in a statement.
